Here is a video of the fourth trick in super magic, Grasshopper. Alright, Paul Harris admits right off the bat this is one of his favorite quickie effects. Guess what, I would have to agree. This is a very streamlined sandwich effect, only 5 cards are used, the 4 Kings and the selection. This trick would be done probably as a prelude to a larger sequence of sandwich tricks or maybe even for an encore because of the cleanliness of the transposition.
Pros: Great quick trick for when you have 1 minute to perform a trick. Exceptionally clean transposition of the selected card. This is a great impromptu effect and you are left completely clean in the end as well. Mr. Harris recommends this looking up “Illusion” from the Magic of Paul Harris as a complimenting effect. My opinion would be to look up Aaron Fisher’s “Search & Destroy”, and try that as a follow up to this effect.
Cons: Two big con’s in this effect in my opinion. First and foremost the display of the card jumping across is a little weak. This is not a show stopper but it is a weak point in the effect overall. The second flaw I see in this routine is the last move executed. Now this is not as weak as the display but if the angles or timing is off it would ruin the effect.
Even though there are some slight cons overall, I don’t think this should detour you from learning and playing around with this effect. Four tricks down, a few more to go.
